Wm Denny Winners 2009 - BROCK BCWelcome to the Brock Bowling Club website.

William Denny Shield Winners 2009

Situated in the heart of Dumbarton the club is located on the north side of Crosslet Road and lies between two schools, Dumbarton Academy and St Patricks Primary. The original clubhouse was located between the bowling green and tennis courts, which have been closed for many years, the ground having been required by the local Education Authority. A new clubhouse was constructed on the opposite side of the green in 1966 and has been extended, first in 1978 and more recently in 1993. It now provides a games room, main hall, bowls, committee rooms and the services of excellent facilities.

Use the blog to find out what's been happening or updated on the website recently. Also, visit our gallery, for all the pics of recent (and not so recent) events.

We now have a working forum, there are boards on bowls, poker, darts and dominos, even crib!. Once you register we will keep you updated with the latest on the site and the club.

We also have an UNofficial site on Bebo. Be warned though, any opinions expressed are not neccesarily that of the bowling club or it's members! Click here for more info

Please sign our guest book and let others know what you think of our site. Thanks.

Charity Day Update Print E-mail

The charity day took place on Saturday 25th July for St Margaret's Hospice. A fun day of gala style bowls was played in the sunshine, which was just as well as the theme for the day was Hawaiian style! The sight of a certain Mr Devine and Heggarty with their coconuts on was well worth the entry fee. Unfortunately, burger sales were down 300% until they covered up!

A disco took place in the evening and some of the ladies had the pleasure of waxing Ned's legs which earned well over £200. Some of the more inebriated attendees then thought it would be fun to get various other parts of their body waxed (no Brazilians!) which earned about another £50.

Overall, a great day out was had and over £1000 was raised for St Margaret's Hospice. Well done to all who contributed.

It's charity time again. The Brock is holding a fun day on Sat 25th July in aid of St Margarets Hospice. There are plenty of events planned including bowling events during the day and a disco in the evening. If you come along, you'll no doubt have the pleasure of seeing a certain bar convener getting his legs waxed for the sake of St Margarets! He's a tee totaller, but he might need a drink that night!!

The football season is also beginning to get underway, hopefully we'll have more details on upcoming matches which will be shown in the club soon. You never know, there might even be a Hibs match or two for those that way inclined! Sorry Billy, I know Dumbarton were promoted, but I still don't think there'll be much TV coverage at the Strathclyde this season again. Tongue out

After a break of a decade, the two bowl pairs made a return to the club calendar on Saturday. The weather held out and an enjoyable time was had by all.

The section winners were D McCafferty/C Fraser and M Clifford/G Grace.

The final was won by D McCafferty/C Fraser.

Well done to all who took part in what we hope will be a recurring tournament in the Brock syllabus once again.
